"yeah, on one hand, jeff says you should do stand-up; you're funny, and on the other my dad says, "andrew always seems a little sad to me, like if i gave him a million bucks he'd say, oh that's nice and not much more," whereas jeff would say, yeah, that's funny. so i think it's the generation gap. your personality is interperted in different ways by different people. it's the listener, not the teller."
I don't know which is worse. To be the kind of guy who comes off all jokey in conversation, like he wants to be a stand-up comic, or the depressed guy. I think instead, I'll be that guy who buys Jonathan Lethem's new book and then bikes home and does some laundry.previous next
