Ok, I just saw My Life As McDull, a Hong Kong animated film about a pig who learns to snatch buns in hopes of Olympic Glory. It was more Terry Gilliam meets James Thurber than Japanese anime style and I liked it a lot. Funny, bittersweet, cute but not too sweet yet not cynical, it was a lot about memory in a Proustian sort of way (memories triggered by food, and the little porker sure does love his moms) that along with the amazing art and music worked for me. Ok 7 more films to go. I'm happy that both theaters are in close biking range for me. Tonight was my first cold weather ride and it was bracing and I liked it. Talking pigs are always funny. Uh, unless it happens in real life. No to that.
